LSBU- SBEA Doctoral Scholarship Programme
The School of the Built Environment and Architecture (SBEA) at the London South Bank University (LSBU) is one of the largest schools in its field in the UK. SBEA has recently sharpened its research focus. It has two research centres on: Civil and Building Services Engineering, and Integrated Delivery of the Built Environment; and two research groups on: Acoustics and Digital and Robotic Architecture. Its aim is to pursue world-leading research which has impact on national policies and governance, on practices in industry, and on the wellbeing of society.
The LSBU-SBEA Doctoral Scholarship Programme is pleased to offer two scholarships for PhD Studentships for September 2021.
Details of the scheme
- The studentships are funded for 3 years and cover the tuition fees and a monthly stipend.
- The studentships are available to UK and EU applicants, and citizens of other countries fulfilling UK immigration requirements.
- The admission requirements are:
- at least a Second-Class Upper honours degree in Architecture, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying and Real Estate
- a Master’s degree with at least a Merit classification
- satisfaction of English Language and other admission requirements of LSBU for doctoral students
- applicants should also:
- submit a full proposal for doctoral studies on one of the topics below.
- submit a personal statement making a case to support the application.
- attend and pass a selection interview.
- The scholarships will be available for the September 2021 intake of students.

Architecture
- Data driven acoustic design through robotic manufacturing – subtractive and coating technologies.
Construction, Property, and Surveying
- Exploring challenges of mental health issues among workers in UK construction industry and finding ways to mitigate the aggravating risk factors.
- Potential of nature-based green infrastructure solutions to improve wellbeing in smart cities.
- Professionalism and ethics in construction.

Deadline for submitting applications: 3rd May 2021.
Please note that the closing date for PhD Scholarship’s has now been extended by one week (12th May 2021).
Interviews of selected applicants: 24-28th May 2021.
