CIAT is pleased to announce that London South Bank University (LSBU) is the first higher education institution in England to have its apprenticeship Programme Accredited. The University has been awarded Accredited status for its BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology (Design and Construction Management Apprenticeship).

An apprenticeship is a route into a profession which provides individuals the opportunity to combine working in a relevant field with studying for a formal qualification. Due to the vocational nature of the built environment and the Architectural Technology profession, apprenticeships are a way of gaining relevant work experience as well as the necessary underpinning knowledge to become a valued, competent professional.

Those enrolled on the Design and Construction Management Apprenticeship at LSBU will gain a BSc (Honours) Architectural Technology degree which is three years in length and contains a mixture of lectures, tutorials,

The Chartered Institute of Architectural Technologists (CIAT) awarded prizes to students of the course in BEA for individual and group work on the course in August 2020. All nominated students, Winners and Highly Commended students were given a certificate. The top three in each year were given gift vouchers. The Winner of the Final Year was given a free upgrade from Student to Associate grade of CIAT membership and awarded a medal.

The final year winners were:

1. Best Final Year Student: Chris Cattle
2. Highly Commended Final Year student: Joel Mammoliti
3. Best Final Year Group: Chris Cattle and Ann-Marie Houlihan
4. Highly Commended Final Year Group: Ben Clark and Luke Stanley.

Greater London Regional Councillor Richard Briffa MCIAT presented the Greater London Regional medals to BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology students at the Final Year Exhibition of student work at the University. The event was hosted by Jennifer Hardi, course director for BSc (Hons) Architectural Technology.
